Am I Trans?

If you feel that the gender you have been assigned at birth does not match up with the way you feel, then you may well be trans. You could also be gender-nonconforming, or non-binary. There aren't really any rules or regulations on how you are supposed to feel and identify, its all up to you. Acceptance of yourself is very important to live a happy life. Some people know that they are trans or nonconforming early in life, and others discover themselves much later, and some people find it easy to accept themselves and their new identities, while others can struggle, either because of their beliefs or upbringings. If you are having trouble coming to terms with your feelings then you can go see your GP. Your GP will refer you to a Gender Identity Clinic who will assess you and help to decide what you need in order to live happily. It could be that you just need to talk to someone about gender identity or sexuality and that you aren't trans at all. It could be that you are trans, in which case you will be in the right place to get the help you need to begin your transition. You can get more in-depth information on our Gender Identity Clinics page.
